Darling, It’s Mardi Gras!

We’re proud to celebrate all kinds of love during Month of Love – new love, old love, the love of friends and family – and we’re especially proud to partner with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras each year to celebrate equal love.

As always, our Mardi Gras events are family friendly, education, and fun. Check out what’s on, don your best rainbow outfit, and come join us!

Drag and Drop

Drag and Drop is back! Bringing a whole lot of Mardi Gras fabulousness to Darling Harbour, Sydney’s most beloved drag performers work it in hilarious live family friendly pop-up shows, curated by the super duper Minnie Cooper. And with so many divas to choose from, you never know who might drop in! They’ll be shimmying and sparkling up a storm.

The hair is big, the heels are high, the make-up is fierce, the energy is electric, and anticipation is in the air! Remember: bend, snap, drag and drop!

Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday

The Sydney Frontrunners’ 16th Annual Little Black Dress Run

Strap on your highest heels, don your favourite little black dress (LBD), and enter the ultimate charity fun run in support of the Twenty10 Association. The pavement will click-clack with the sound of stilettos as hundreds join the Sydney Frontrunners’ LGBTQI running group’s 16th annual LBD Run.

Now a must-do event of the Mardi Gras season—you’ll be having so much fun you won’t even notice you’re exercising! Enjoy entertainment and a celebrity auction before the fun and drinks and nibbles afterwards.

Gayby Baby

Gayby Baby is a portrait of four kids—Gus, Ebony, Matt and Graham—whose parents all happen to be gay. As they each wrestle with the challenges of oncoming adolescence, the outside world tackles the issue of marriage equality and whether or not kids like them are at risk.

This acclaimed 2015 Australian documentary was recently in the news after it was banned from being screened in NSW schools during school hours. Bring the family and enjoy this one-off special screening with Monkey Baa Theatre Company. Recommended for children 8 years and over.

Thought-provoking conversations will have you up to speed on hot button topics and give you new perspectives for understanding and collaboration.

At Lend Lease Darling Quarter Theatre, IVF Australia will host a forum on understanding what it means to be, create and raise a family in 2016 and how we can work together to promote acceptance and tolerance of family diversity.
