Get All Rugged Up With Our Winter Warmers!

While summer seems to steal all the limelight, we think winter is one of the loveliest times of the year. There’s a certain magic to it; the air is crisp and pure, fireplaces crackle gently, and there’s nothing like settling in for a nice warm meal or a couple of drinks after a day of fun. So grab a scarf, pull on a coat, and get ready for our season-long Winter Warmers. With plenty to see and do, so many scrumptious things to eat and drink, and lots of super cool specials, we’re here to prove that winter can be a winner.

Cool Yule is in full swing and better than ever. All your favourites are back until 17 July, like the Cool Yule Snow Pit, The Cool Iceberg, the Cool Yule Ferris Wheel and the Frosty Fireworks, plus some extra special new additions. The little ones can experience spell-binding interactive storytelling sessions with Monkey Baa Theatre Company‘s Frosty Fiction and Fun in the enchanting Frozen Forest, and our Cool Yule Ice Rink Presented by Nova 96.9 has grown even bigger this year, transforming Palm Grove into a winter playground. Don’t know how to ice skate? We’ll show you how at our Learn To Skate classes! The ice rink is wheelchair accessible and an accessibility ramp is available if needed, so everyone can have some frosty fun. And while you’re at the ice rink, catch some amazing ice-skating shows by Stars On Ice, with top figure skaters showing off their amazing moves.

Download our Cool Yule app from the App Store or Google Play to add a layer of fresh snow to all your pics, then hit our Selfie Station to interact with playful penguins thanks to the power of augmented reality. Now that’s cool! Pop your happy snaps onto Instagram with the hashtags #DarlingHarbour and #CoolYule, and you could win an special prize pack that includes a 12 month pass to all Sydney Merlin venues and two nights for a family of four at Novotel Sydney on Darling Harbour!

The kids (and big kids like mums, dads and carers) can have an exciting and educational school holiday. To celebrate the release of Disney•Pixar’s Finding Dory, SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium invites kids to become underwater explorers, learning about Dory’s real life home and conservation, and meeting some of her real life fishy friends. You can get up to speed with the story beforehand at IMAX Sydney, with Finding Dory showing in amazing 3D on the world’s biggest screen. You can also check out Legend of Tarzan 3D from 7 July, Ghostbusters 3D from 14 July, and Star Trek Beyond 3D from 21 July.

Enjoy some special stories with Monkey Baa Theatre Company, all as unique as a snowflake. The Little Prince, an adventure story that celebrates the richness of human feeling and imagination and the importance of friendship, is on from 5 July to 9 July. Random Musical brings totally spontaneous, totally improvised and totally random fun to the stage from 12 July to 16 July, and The Peasant Prince, a special children’s version of Li Cunxin’s iconic autobiography Mao’s Last Dancer, will be delighting audiences from 29 August to 2 September.

The Australian National Maritime Museum is taking educational fun to a whole new level, with an entire sleigh of things to do! There’s the Pop-Up Planetarium, Stars and Songlines interactive activities, the Circle Reading Room, and so much more. Check out all their school holidays events so you don’t miss out!

All that fun is bound to make you peckish, so why not pop in to some of our great restaurants, bars and pubs for a nice meal and a warming drink. At Anderson’s of Denmark Ice Cream you can get two sundae baskets for $18, and two regular Belgian hot chocolates for $8.
